How we build a fence that stays straight

Most fences around here fail the same few ways: posts that lean in the clay, gates that sag, and a contractor who's hard to reach once the check clears. Here's what we do about each one. Cody has built fences around here for over 12 years, and he still measures every job himself.

What goes into the fence

  • Posts set in concrete, deep enough for the clay they're in. Blackland clay swells and shrinks with the weather, and shallow posts are why so many fences around here lean.
  • Galvanized steel posts available on wood fences. They don't rot at the ground line, which is where wood posts usually fail.
  • Heavier gate posts, because the gate post carries the most weight and takes a beating every day.
  • Gates built in our shop on welded steel frames, measured for your opening, so they hang straight and don't drag.
  • Cap-and-trim and kickboards when you want the more finished look and a bottom board that keeps the pickets off the dirt.
  • Stain applied by us, not left as an extra for you to figure out later.

Before we dig

  • We walk the line with you and measure, so the quote matches what is actually on the ground.
  • A written quote with what is and isn't included, and options when there's more than one good way to build it.
  • Texas 811 locates. We place the ticket to get utility lines marked before we dig.
  • Permits where the city requires one. We handle the paperwork and work it into the schedule.
  • HOA help. If your HOA wants drawings, material details or photos before they approve, we put them together for you.

When we're done

  • We haul off the old fence and clean up before we leave.
  • A walk-through with you. We walk the finished job together and check every gate before we call it done.
  • A written 1-year workmanship warranty. If something we built isn't right, call and we'll come fix it.
  • Calls answered 6 AM to 8 PM, 7 days a week. Texts and quote requests anytime. You won't be chasing us down.
